If you're still looking at x86 processors, the CPU reference manuals for
Intel's current chips are available in downloadable PDF form on Intel's
web site. You'll still kill a tree printing it out, but there's no
middleman driving up costs. (The Pentium MMX manual was about 800 pages;
be a hero and print it double-sided. :-)
