Ok, now that the GNU compiler tools can be built and ran on WinNT, has anyone tried porting the GNU C Lib v2.0? Why didn't Cygnus try porting glibc 2.0 instead of writing libcygwin.dll? Or has it been ported already, and I just having read about it anywhere?

Yes, it will. Almost all the Cygwin32 host-specific code is in
the official FSF gcc development sources as well as in the Cygnus
sources.
