Not that I know of. GCC lacked a release manager for some time (not too many
people want loads of additional work ;), which changed only recently.
The new RM is still working out release conditions. It's best to watch
http://gcc.gnu.org/ for more info. The GCC team is determined to make a
2.97 release quickly before the final big step to gcc-3.0.
