I just got the same error last night while attempting to build
glibc-2.1.2-990401 with EGCS 1.1.2 on my RedHat v5.2 (kernel v2.2.5)
system.  There definitely a problem here, but the fault does not lie with
PGCC.

BTW, On the EGCS bugs mailing list there's a complaint (as of yesterday, 2
days old and not responded to) by RedHat's Christian Gafton of problems with
EGCS.
