You can work around it by typing the command DPMI OFF before starting PKZIP / PKUNZIP, and DPMI ON afterwards. You should be able to automate the process with a couple of DOSKEY macros so you never have to think about it again. However, why bother when there are free replacements available which don't suffer blatant compatibility issues? Info-ZIP is compatible and open- source.
