The last stable release of gEDA/gaf was in 2013, the last "unstable"
snapshot was in 2015.  There have been bursts of energy since then, but
without any releases in that amount of time...

I moved to lepton-eda a while back, with no regrets, and it's working
well for me.=20

No issues with symbols.  Any custom guile scripts may need minor
updates.  I moved from pcb -> pcb-rnd around the same time, and pcb-rnd
has now diverged significantly from pcb, but still reads footprint files
and pcb design files just fine.
