'bed of nails' and pcb gives results for various kinds of test
fixtures. Tag Connect makes these parts and I believe they use the
term 'plug of nails' as a mark.

What the user gets is some of what you are describing: a temporary
electrical connection without bom level parts requirements for the pcb
itself. All the parts I know suggest using unplated holes in the
fabricated pcb for a quick latching function (pushing down to maintain
contact gets old, fast)

The tag connect part i'm thinking includes some spring loaded pins and
a clip, this part is typically an expensive part but many people have
hobby or technical level self-built alternatives for lower cost In my
pcb/pcb-rnd footprints linked below, I am using Tag Connect and have
adding the unplated holes. I've seen these kinds of parts used for
programming as well as panel testing.
