Hi all,

we have reached significant mile stones in 2016 and 2017:

- pcb mainline release 4.0.0;

- pcb-rnd own file format for boards and finally the refactoring for a 
more universal internal data model;

- pcb-rnd got an official Debian package;

I think this is a good moment to celebrate these achievements with a 
tribute pack (URL at the bottom).

While doing the "test old files with the new loader" project in early 
December I figured I get the files with the source code. I also found that 
with minor modifications I could get the sources to run on my desktop. 
Then looking at the code I realized how much of the 90s code we still have 
with us in current versions, with minor modifications. It's fascinating to 
see how different ages layered over and over.

There was also some confusion on the mailing list about versions, and I 
was unsure about 2.0 and 3.0.0 for a long time too.

So I decided to dig up many old versions, compile them and to contact 
previous developers and collect their memories from the earlier phases of 
the project.

I've started to build a tribute pack back in mid December and now it is 
ready to be released. The design of the page is similar to the old, Xaw 
versions of pcb from before the gtk/lesstif transition.
