Unfortunately I don't recall exactly.  I believe it's one of the first
couple asserts in either r_search or __r_search.  Apparently I never
actually left ASSERT_BT() in any branch (maybe once backtrace is merged
:).  I can't get it to do it now either but unless I'm special if you turn
debug on you'll see it sooner or later.

I wanted to know the actual intersection points, so I could report them
correctly in DRC.  To be honest I found some intersection test functions so
convoluted that I couldn't figure out how to get a point out instead of
just yes/no.  Then I found that a number of them didn't work right for a
lot of cases and decided to factor out common geometric abstractions.
