Sadly that is a real world problem caused by the diode manufactures, I
just ran into it with an LED.

Normal Intensity LED:   Anode-1 Cathode-2
High Intensity LED:       Anode-2 Cathode-1
Ultra Intensity LED:       Anode-1 Cathode-2

All three in the same package, marked the same way. :-(

The  pin out also can vary by color Red is Anode-1 and Green is Anode-2, :-(

Bottom line is no mater what layout package is being used everything
still needs manually checked...
