The last company and the current company I'm at (Resume anyone?) both
have outright bans on designing in Maxim parts due to past
availability nightmares. I was assured by a Maxim VP a couple of
years ago that those problems had been fixed. To late the damage was
already done, the ban remains.

Take a look at the LTC2983 good to 0.1'C:

http://www.linear.com/docs/46027

I'd really like to see all these things rated in 'F due to the 1.8
scale compression ratio between F and C.
