1) perhaps adding support for a field in the Text[] object referring to a
font file, to allow different fonts to be used for different texts on the
same PCB.

+/- some kind of unicode support, could be nice with or without the ability
to select different font files, perhaps as a UnicodeText[] or similar
object +/- a field for the font to use.

This would make more creative artwork, and multilingual artwork, on
silkscreens somewhat simpler.

related to this would be a menu item with the ability to "Import bitmap to
silkscreen layer", simplifying the whole pstoedit routine.

2) if too hard to implement in the layers of footprints, slots could be
enabled via post processing of excellon drill files during/following gerber
export

which looks for a magic, pre-defined drill size as a trigger to create a
slot joining a pair of consecutive holes of that size where before there
were just two holes in the drill file.
