Huh? I've used it heavily, with both slotted and non slotted parts and
subparts. For example an ADG731 (32:1 analog switch) in which i have one
part for the control an common analog port and 32 slots, 1 per channel.

What is necessary is that some attributes are the same across all
symbols, from memory at least device and footprint.

I've never used the drc2 backend, so maybe it's a bit more fussy, but
I've used these symbols to layout boards with pcb, pcb-rnd, and
subcontracted layout to people using CadStar.
