FWIW,

`lepton-eda' and `geda-gaf' have same roots but different directions ;-)

Lepton continues supporting the gEDA file format and works on many
modern distributions.  A not exhaustive list is here:

Lepton supports Guile 2.2 and 3.0, and Gtk 2.x and 3.x, so can be
installed and used on many modern distributions that have thrown
away old libs like Gtk 2.x.
