So - I have volunteered to speak again... My talk (if accepted) will be: Title: Promoting friendship and collaboration between open-source EDA projects Subtitle: Diplomacy for developers and communities. Finding common ground and ways to collaborate - whilst retaining project identities. I have a certain amount I want to cover myself - but would also very much be interested to hear any other peoples' ideas along the lines of the title. I plan to explore what motivates developers, why FOSS EDA tools exist - and why both competition - and collaboration can be useful amongst projects. I feel like given my lack of progress on gEDA (and PCB) development over the last years - I'm not really speaking on behalf of gEDA - just as a developer who has seen a few things, partaken in his share of arguments etc.., and likes to think he knows something about EDA software. As many will ask - I would also love to hear a brief summary of progress with upstream gEDA, and PCB - so I can pass that on if asked (and perhaps include a 1-slide summary in my talk. I understand there has been a new gEDA release, for example - and I see Britton Kerin is currently doing some work on PCB (now I fixed my email, and am getting list-messages again!). Anything else noteworthy I've probably missed? Regarding any talk suggestions - would appreciate a direct reply, not on-list.
