We're not talking about these 1000s of packages out there, we talk here
about gEDA.

An entire moot point. The only thing users care about is the "it works
for me" experience. This is a given, unless you want to make gEDA a
global socialisation project. And to some extents it can be exploited to
the favor of the project.
