If barrel connectors with their trough holes seem a hassle, then just about any connector with two pins for + and two pins for return will do... I don't know a good rule of thumb for connector pin currents and sizes. Mill-Max company might have good info on that for theirs, and other kinds of pins might be less able, depending on gold plating and heat flows and what-not.
