Did you mean "do no hesitate to ask?"? ("do not bother") would mean the
opposite.
Can you suggest a simple (easy to find / install) gcode viewer I can
verify the test-cases against?
FWIW, it may be intentional that the drilling of the PCB is done from
the bottom. For people making single-sided boards with through-hole
components, the normal position for the copper is on the "bottom" layer
group.
This would probably make the bottom side the preferred direction to
drill from. (IE, the side where the tracks are milled, on the bottom of
the board).
