Yeah, the solder mask "layer" isn't a drawable layer (we're working on that). Can you just omit the topmask gerber when you send the boards out to fab? I wonder what you'd get back for that... Worst case, create an "empty" gerber by drawing a big polygon on a spare layer in a separate (blank) pcb the same size as yours, and insert it into the fab files.
