If you compile with "-v" gcc will tell you which ones it's using for your particular host. For DJGPP, the two recommended ones are: __MSDOS__ - most dos compilers define this, to tell you you're dealing with a dos-like filesystem. __DJGPP__ - specific to DJGPP version 2 and higher. BTW: djgpp has clrscr() to clear the screen.
