Understood.  I found that out myself in doing more research on the
problem, but I had already posted this message.

I have, but (as you know from my subsequent posting) the real problem
is MakeMaker not finding a perl executable.  I will defer further
comments to that thread, to keep the problem discusstion on-topic.
