The length is no problem, subject only to available memory...

That is somewhat ridiculous, since there are only 16 possible MIDI
channels!

That isn't so easy to do, because it would need a change to numerous
conversion utilities and the datafile MIDI format. An much simpler
solution would be to find a MIDI format converter and reduce the
offending file from Type 1 to Type 0...
