THE PROBLEM WAS...

i was trying to compile the file

    myfirst.cc

with

    gcc.exe

TO FIX IT (COMPILE THE FILE) i had to ren the file to

    myfirst.cpp

*then* run

    gxx myfirst.cpp -o myfirst.exe

thanx to Maan M. Hamze for the GXX.EXE tip
