No kidding; (100 - 2500)^(1/2) is not real. Thus, as per the ANSI C
standard, the result returned by sqrt is undefined. That's why it's some
wacky number; it doesn't have to return anything reasonable. errno would
also indicate that there was a domain error, if the original poster had
been looking.
