Thanks for your replies - hopefully now more people will know about this
excellent method for accessing video memory.. It can't be any slower than the
nearptr hack, and memory protection is still in place. I always use %es so I
can do string writes to the video memory. In any case, whatever segreg you
use you should restore it anyway.
