I have just checked in patches to newlib and winsup which I hope will resolve at least my part of the cr/lf mess :-) They should make it into the next snapshot. The net result of these changes is that old applications (pre-api-0.21) will not use the new cr/lf conversion, and thus will continue to have a broken ftell(). Newly compiled programs will use the new conversion, and will have a working ftell().
