Subject: | Re: MAKE_MODE default to UNIX? |
>From cygwin-developers-return-498-schilling=fokus DOT gmd DOT de AT sourceware DOT cygnus DOT com Tue Aug 3 22:54:54 1999 >>Does anyone think that it would be a bad idea to make make make the >>default "unix" mode rather than "msdos" mode? >> >Geoffrey Noer set default make mode to msdos. Did you talk to him? As for >me, the second thing I usually do after installation of cygwin on a new >computer is to set MAKE_MODE to "unix" in global NT environment. The first >one is to remount all drives in binary mode :-) If GCC would report include file dependencies using slashes instead of using backslashes, I would be happpy. I could then use my unmodified own 'smake' source to compile on Cygwin. Being forced to allow backslashes in filenames that are found in a makfile, you are forced to add non POSIX make compliant interpretation of make rules.
