Hi all,
OK, I'm not going to let this die. :-)
So one last attempt at this, there seemed to be a fair amount of
consensus last time the subject of removing //<drive-letter>/ came up.
Most people seemed to think that removing it would be good idea.
This includes Syd in SN land, some people on the gnu-win32 list,
etc... If we did want to do this, B20 might be a good time to do it.
So this is my proposal:
1) Rip out the //<drive-letter>/ handling code.
2) Accept /disk/<drive-letter> or /dsk/<drove-letter> instead? Ian
pointed out once upon a time that Unix users won't expect to find
file systems under /dev which makes sense to me.
Alternatively, skip 2) and require people to use "mount".
Opinions? Should I take a poll of the gnu-win32 list?
