Regarding the patch to support pragma pack(push/pop), I extracted the
patch from and older branch of egcs (1.0.x instead of 1.1 branch) and it 
has a bug that's been fixed since.  I'll upload the new version sometime
over the weekend. My apologies if it's caused you to waste time scratching
your head ...
