Thanks for the report. I've tried to update lftp for 1.7, but every version I've compiled later than 3.7.6 has segfaulted at start on my host. Not sure now whether I was using gcc 3 or 4. I'll take another try at in on Monday, with gcc4. Ping this thread if you don't see a result next week.
