As for the old version, that's just a requirement, libtool 1.4 or newer... but since the autoconf script complains it must have taken the 1.3.x as version... yes, it does: $ libtoolize --version | sed 's/^[^0-9]*\([0-9].[0-9.]*\).*/\1/' 1.3081 2003 2009 ...
