I have a vague feeling that I already asked about this one.. but I can't
find it on the archives, so I guess I forgot that or either the e-mail
got lost by the server... anyway...

Why is cygwin's exitstatus seen by "windows" as an errorlevel 256 times
bigger?
It is as if the exitstatus is the high byte of the errorlevel.
But not on the command-line, only if called by another program (popen? I
don't know what call does Mozilla use... but I can investigate).

This leads to problems e.g. in mozilla's enigmail when using cygwin's gpg
