Subject: dos format bash history files

Why doesn't bash understand how to read its history file in
dos format? If I mount C: as binary bash will write the history
file in unix format and read it the next time bash is started.
If C: is mounted in text mode the history file will be written
In dos format bash will not read it next time. It is not
convenient for me to mount C: as binary as gnu tools are
not the only ones I use on my system.

Thanks in advance,
