PAPERSIZE(5) PAPERSIZE(5) NNAAMMEE ppaappeerrssiizzee - specify preferred paper size SSYYNNOOPPSSYYSS $${{pprreeffiixx}}//eettcc//ppaappeerrssiizzee DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN The ppaappeerrssiizzee file is used to specify the preferred paper size to use by available commands and programs generating documents. The format of this file is extremely simple: whitespace and anything starting with `#' is ignored, and the name of the paper is the first string found; the case in the name of the paper does not import (see CCAAVVEEAATTSS section how- ever). PPAAPPEERR NNAAMMEESS The following names are commonly understood by programs: aa33, aa44, aa55, bb55, lleetttteerr, lleeggaall, eexxeeccuuttiivvee, nnoottee and 1111xx1177. Additional paper names that one may encounter are: aa00, aa11, aa22, aa66, aa77, aa88, aa99, aa1100, bb00, bb11, bb22, bb33, bb44, ttaabbllooiidd, ssttaatteemmeenntt, nnoottee, hhaallfflleetttteerr, hhaallffeexxeeccuuttiivvee, ffoolliioo, qquuaarrttoo, lleeddggeerr, aarrcchhAA, aarrcchhBB, aarrcchhCC, aarrcchhDD, aarrcchhEE, ffllssaa, ffllssee, ccsshheeeett, ddsshheeeett, eesshheeeett and 1100xx1144. The value of the ppaappeerrssiizzee file can be overrideen by look- ing in order at the PPAAPPEERRSSIIZZEE environment variable, then at the contents of the file specified by the PPAAPPEERRCCOONNFF environment variable. If the ppaappeerrssiizzee file does not exist, programs using the paper library default to using lleetttteerr as a fall-back value CCAAVVEEAATTSS This manual page documents the format of the ppaappeerrssiizzee file that is read by the lliibbppaappeerr library. Some programs that read this file do not yet use the library and may have trouble ignoring whitespace and comments in the file; they may also require that the paper names use a specific capitalization.
