I'm not an expert in compiler implementations, so I didn't either try to read the sources to identify the problem, but I'm sure to have hit a bug: the code, or at least that part of the code, is pretty clean and standard, it can't be an error of mine. In a C++ class I wrote, using an optimization level >=-O5 makes an exception that is (rightly) thrown uncatchable, i.e. the exception handler can't be reached: the program terminates with an 'Aborted' message when it should simply jump to the handler. When using inferior optimization levels, _or when using gcc-2.95_ the programs behaves perfectly, and the handler is reached. The example may seem complex, I'm sorry, but this is the only case when I've been able to exploit the bug. I have include it here; just enter the L directory, call make to compile, then enter the LAuthentication directory and exec ./demo _twice_; the first time the demo will create a file with some data and exit gracefully; the second time the program will find the data already present, and throw an exception; there's an handler, but this won't be reached if using pgcc-2.95 and an optimization level >=-O5.
