The problem code lies probably in the directory xc/programs/Xserver/cfb of XFree86. I tried to compile this code with different options. Results: -O2 -mk6: CRASH -O2 -m486: works -O2 -fno-schedule-insns2: works -O6 -fno-schedule-insns2: works For this test the rest of the server was compiled with -O. If I compile the whole X-Server (SVGA) with -O6 the X-Server starts but if some clients connect it crashes. If I compile with -O3 then the server dont crash but doesn't find any valid video mode. Very mystical.... Sorry haven't had time yet to do more tests but I hope you can fix this really soon! thx, ron -- /\/\ Ronald Wahl -- rwahl AT gmx DOT net /\/\ C S N /\/\ \/\/ ------------------------------- \/\/ ---------------------- \/\/ /\/\ http://www.tu-chemnitz.de/~row/ /\/\ network administration /\/\ \/\/ PGP key available \/\/ system management \/\/
