With -mk6 and -O2 the compiler itself do not crash but instead produce buggy excutables (SIGSEGV on run). Compiling with -O6 seems better but not for all programs. I try also to switch from binutils 2.9.5.0.3 to 2.9.5.0.8 with same results. On the contrary RPMS binaries downloaded from your site runs well (kdebase-1.1.2 for an example). Any ideas ??
