(Please scroll down for conclusions and announcements). The results are: === 1. have you ever tried xgsch2pcb? YES=2, NO=3, N/A=0 2. do you use xgch2pcb? YES=0, NO=4, N/A=1 3. do you plan to use any sort of graphical project manager in the future, such as xgsch2pcb or easyspice or genxproj? YES=2, NO=3, N/A=0 4. would you use it for schematics->PCB->gerber flow? YES=2, NO=1, N/A=2 5. would you use it for schematics->sim or schematics->DRC or schematics->bom or any other shcematics->* flow? YES=1, NO=1, N/A=3 === Conclusion: some users tried xgsch2pcb but do not use it while there seems to be a (weak) demand on an application of that class, mainly for a schemaics->pcb flow. (This suggests xgsch2pcb is not doing what those users want. Maybe genxproj will.) Thus I announce that the dbus support in pcb-rnd is deprecated and will be removed in a subsequent release. This means pcb-rnd will NOT support xgsch2pcb (until xgsch2pcb is rewritten to use the --listen feature of pcb-rnd/pcb). I also announce that genxproj will enter beta testing phase within a week. I'm looking for testers - please contact me via private email or IRC (server=repo.hu:6667, channel=#pcb-rnd). Best regards, Igor2
