This turned the cleared polygon shapes into explicit polygon outlines, so would fit with your description of being able to remove the lines afterwards. It probably has options to work on the selected polygon. I don't recall the syntax fully, and I'm ill in bed - so can't immediately check. If you remove an object that has a clearence in a polygon, the polygon shou= ld be updated and the clearance should be gone. If it doesn't happen im= mediately it is a bug. Once you save and load the board, it will surely hap= pen because the polygon is recalculated on load.

For what you said there was another hack: to use lines with width=3D0 (and = keep those lines). That would still apply the clearance, but since line wit= h is 0 copper would not appear on some output. I am not sure which output f= ormats did or did not break on this.
