For the lazy (like me) - perhaps you could post the patch series?

I'd be tempted to run a later version of gschem were the side-bar
(temporarily at least) killed fire :).

I should probably try to merge the multi-selection attribute editing code
I'm currently running on top of a version a few years old now!, so it
doesn't bit-rot.
