To draw the lose end of the pin to some arbitrary position: 1) switch to a very fine grid in the grid dialogue. Options -> Snap_grid_spacing (BTW, in current git head the accel combo to access this dialog is broken) 2) change Snap_Size to 10 or even 1. The change should be reflected in the status line at the bottom of the window. 3) drag the end of the pin to a visually pleasing position. 4) make sure to change the grid back to the original 100. This might prevent you from placing the pins at exactly the "right" point. The manual suggests pin length 300. There is no technical reason for it, just style.
