Be assured, the whole thing is the result of careful considerations along with extensive discussions. More than 100 emails were exchanged. Mostly done by reducing all these "let's fork and do everything better from the ground up" ideas down into a reasonable, mangeable unit. Also into a task which would put emphasis on keeping what's already good, avoiding wheel-reinvention. There was and is also a plan. Next and perhaps last step of this plan was to join with DJ. Even an offering to join gEDAhead with the traditional team, taking the lessons learned into account, is written already. Why wasn't this offered earlier already, before founding gEDAhead? First reason is that gEDAhead's success was anything but granted. It could have vanished just as unnoticed as it appeared. Who'd know wether we were right with our considerations? Only trying could answer this. The other reason is, it was easily forseeable that joining with DJ earlier would have put him into a conflict with the traditional team. We took the risk of alienating him somewhat instead of forcing him into this conflict. Joining with the traditional team up front was considered to be impossible. Actually it was the traditional team's deafness which was the sole reason for starting the search for alternatives. The search which eventually led to the gEDAhead effort. Looking at the current situation, the offering mentioned above apparently has to wait now. Markus -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dipl. Ing. (FH) Markus Hitter http://www.jump-ing.de/
