A lot of other stuff on my machine only runs with GTK2. I installed GNOME3 hated it and then went over to Mate just to avoid burning processor/gpu power on eye candy. I won't fight anyone who writes GTK3 code. I am just saying there is some validity to waiting out the mess that is the current environment around GTK3.
