As for the gedasymbols CVS issue, CVS solves two problems: it is easy to manage, and it prevents abuse. Adding accounts is trivial for me to do, anonymous netizens can't upload unrelated (possibly illegal and/or dangerous) content, and every file is associated with a legal owner (for copyright purposes). And before you say "XYZ can do those things" remember that someone has to *make* XYZ do those things. That someone is not going to be me. If someone else wants to take gedasymbols to the "next level", that someone will have to step up to the task.
