It is great if people improve existing software, but there may exist good reasons for writing something new. For GTK -- there are many operating systems where GTK is not well supported or not available at all, while Qt is. And there may exist people who use that proprietary, non Linux like operating system. And, when ODB++ and IPC2851 file format become better supported by fab houses, it is great if there is a free viewer.
