Isn't always the way when you post something a solution appears

I recently changed my printer to a HP6520e from an epson which I had
good control of the print resolution.
The HP printer should print at 4800 x1200 dpi, which should be enough.
What I didn't  expect was if you are printing a Black and white image,
ie just black ink used, if you tell it in the print dialog to print
black, it drops the resolution back to 1200 x 600 !
to print at 4800 x 1200 with black ink you have to tell it to print in
colour.

I really get fed up with these people that consider that the general
public cant understand print resolution.

unless of course they used the average windows user as an example of
whats typical.
