IMHO, the choice of the task and communication is critical. Geda participated in Google summer of code (GSoC) a few years ago. The student chose the ambitious task building a rather advanced auto-router. He got the engine working and test cases looked really good. However, at the end of the GSoC there were still aspects to it, that made the autorouter impractical for real projects. Unfortunately, the student did not manage to hand the project over in a way that would have allowed casual successors to step in and develop it toward real usefulness. The result was a big block of code that got bit rotten about a year later by the mil-to-nm conversion. ---<)kaimartin(>--- --=20 Kai-Martin Knaak kmk AT lilalaser DOT de http://lilalaser.de/blog --Sig_/hOfn5eftmmssZWEA7/vpyAV Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAlCMaWYACgkQt9RkiGwLn1Px7ACdGpoKIlRhI55Jn/g5t28zDLMP maEAn2ecjAirMKLJpMYThgmlg/yEJzA3 =ImOb -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/hOfn5eftmmssZWEA7/vpyAV--
