PCB: > The ubuntu repo contains old versions of both pcb and pcb-rnd. > Is pcb-rnd suitable for a first-time user (of PCB) to get started > with, or would pcb be more appropriate? > > Thanks in advance! > > Abhijit Hello Abhijit, I do recognise your name from way back, welcome back ;-) I recently upgraded pcb and geda-gaf on Ubuntu 20.20 LTS. geda-gaf is not present at Ubuntu 20.10.LTS so I had to get the *.deb files from Ubutu 18.**.LTS and do a manual installation, which succeeded, and works flawlessly for me. pcb-4.2.2 depends on gerbv and gschem amongst others, gerbv installs with apt-get. pcb-4.2.2 tends to take half way forever to start up, I don't know why, I'm working on that bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/pcb/+bug/1909778) ... I suspect gtk is having an influence as the lesstif UI fires up instantaneously ;-) Kind regards, Bert Timmerman
