I'd like to announce release 2 of DJGPP packages of gdb 5.3. This release incorporates a fix from Andris Pavenis, to cope with a problem in the debug information generated by gcc 3.x and preprocessor defines. There are also a couple of small changes to the build system: readline/Makefile now has paths off $DJDIR rather than my build directory; default to building for i386, when running the configure script. I recommend that people using the binary package upgrade to release 2. The major change in gdb 5.3 for DJGPP users is that GDB now supports C/C++ preprocessor macros - it can expand macros. For more details, see gnu/gdb-5.3/gdb/NEWS, once a package of gdb 5.3 has been installed, or read the announcement on the web here: http://sources.redhat.com/gdb/download/ANNOUNCEMENT DJGPP packages of gdb 5.2.3 can be downloaded from Simtel.NET. If you wish to use gdb or bfdsymify, you should download the binary distribution - gdb53b.zip. If you wish to look at or rebuild from the sources, you should download the source distribution - gdb53s.zip. The documentation is available in HTML, PostScript and DVI formats from the documentation distribution - gdb53d.zip. If you wish to use the BFD or GDB libraries, then you should download the "additional" distribution - gdb53a.zip. (If you don't know what the BFD and GDB libraries are, then you probably don't need them. You can read the BFD documentation from the binary distribution, to find out.) http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb53a.zip&name=g db53a.zip http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb53b.zip&name=gdb53b.zip http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb53d.zip&name=gdb53d.zip http://www.simtel.net/gnudlpage.php?product=/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gdb53s.zip&name=gdb53s.zip Additional information can be found here: * In the documentation under gnu/gdb-5.3 off the DJGPP directory, once gdb 5.3 has been installed; * From the gdb home page: http://sources.redhat.com/gdb/ .
