Apparently you want the latter? It would seem that way. I thought ncurses provided "put a button here" and "put some text here" type routines. Until I saw the manpages. Ideally I want something like the widget set used in MandrakeSoft's installer, as used on Linux-Mandrake 6.1 (IIRC), codename Helios. Or the widget set used by the Slackware 8.1 installer - they both look shockingly similar. Same goes for the widget set used by the "make menuconfig" option in the Linux kernel.
